Album Review: “prologue.” by Arbors Lane

Hello Pillarverse!

Today I’m going to be taking a look at “prologue.” the second EP by Canadian Alt. Rockers/Pop Punkers Arbors Lane. Some of you may remember when I did a spotlight on the band and their first EP “True Contender” way back before we even had this nice little blog here. I discovered them on a random drift through bandcamp and was very impressed and the same goes for the rest of the Pillar crew. After that I knew I had to talk about them because they definitely earned the fans they have and deserve even more.

In preparation for this review I gave “True Contender” another listen just for comparison sake and before we even get into the review I have to say that “prologue.” has a much fuller sound and the mix is killer so the production side of things deserves mad props.  Now to talk about the EP itself, the EP is a pretty average length made up of five songs and coming in just under twenty minutes but don’t let the time stamp fool you they pack a lot into this record. Everyone in the band has really stepped their game up for this one with every but the guitarist are really catching my ear on this release with strong leads that add a whole new element to their sound and strengthen the vibes that push them towards being more alternative than pop punk. In addition to that I am in love with the increased presence of the bass in these recordings but as a bass player myself I suppose I am a bit biased on that end. The vocals have developed into a more steady and strong form that help the powerful moments on the EP shine out as bright as every. I also appreciate the increased creativity behind the kit that keeps each song moving and varied. If I can’t sell you on them maybe their music video for “Heart’s Hidden” the first track off of the EP can.

This is a solid piece of music from a solid band that, if this record is any indication, will only continue to grow and become even more musically impressive as they have from their previous releases to now. If you haven’t gotten into their music this is your chance to fix that mistake. Seriously, Arbors Lane is a very talented group that you will feel good about supporting from an early stage.

Get their music on bandcamp, “prologue.” is about $5 and previous releases are avaible for the good old “Name your Price” so get it already!:
